With tons of planning done, my true love Wendy and I got hitched! What a day it was. She was such a beautiful bride! I think she's beautiful EVERY day though but that day was extra special. My groomsmen and I started off that morning getting the cars for the day. We got 4 Lincoln Towncars. Wendy started earlier getting to the hairdressers about 6am. As the boys and I got ready at my parents, my sweetie was with her parents at the hotel getting the gown on. Our photographer came to the house first for some shots then rushed over to capture the preparations over at the hotel.
The groomsmen and I got to the park before 11am to make sure all was going correctly. There was another going on that had our pavillion until 12 noon. Thats when we were supposed to start! I was hoping they'd be done in time to get set up & start! Fortunately, they were. The chair rental place we had also did that wedding so the chairs were already there. We were ready to go!
The music started and the bridal party came up the aisle. The sun shone brightly and a gentle breeze slipped through the trees. I looked around the pillars of the pavillion and watched the bridal party come up the aisle of roses. Then...the bridal song started! I got a little nervous and thought to myself "OK, here we go!" I watched as Pappa Thomas walked his daughter down the aisle. The last time as a single chick!!!!
They made it up the aisle no problem! 167 foot walk!!! It looked like it was going to storm soon. The clouds darkened a bit and a soft light sprinkle came down. Only for a few minutes though. Not even enough to get anyone wet. Just enough though to make us think..."Hurry up before this comes down!"It stopped as we started our ceremony. Supposedly, it's good luck to have rain on your wedding day. I dont know why....wouldnt that run all the women's makeup? A bride gets her hair done, her makeup done and is in a one time dress....for it to get ruined by rain? Anyhow...back to the story.
The ceremony went without a hitch...for the most part. Tee hee! My cousin started off with a reading. Wendy had picked it after a long long search on the internet. After her, Wendy's uncle sang a song. It was a love song, the words first coming from me to Wendy, the from Wendy to me. After our "entertainment" the minister proceeded with the ceremony. We got to our vows and did pretty good. Ok Ok, we did get a little tongue-tied! We were pronounceded man and wife and proceeded to the first of our receiving lines. After pictures in the park, we went to Burger King for a quick bite before ceremony #2. YES! Two ceremonies. We wed in the park then went to a church for a small catholic ceremony. After the church ceremony, we went back to my parents house for a much needed rest. AND, thats when the rain came! There was enough "good luck" for 10 couples! We got home, rested and enjoyed the company of out of town guests before heading to the reception.
MORE TO COME..........
